Zhejiang renewable energy company enthusiatic about investment prospects in PH
Shanghai, 25 January – Top-100 Chinese renewable energy (RE) company, Universal Energy (UE), called on the Consulate General today in pursuit of its planned investments in solar and wind-energy generation projects in the Philippines.
Founded in 2015 and based in Zhejiang Province, UE is a family-owned RE enterprise. It ranks among China’s Top 100 companies, and has invested domestically and overseas in solar and wind projects with total stored capacity of 1 GW.
UE Director ZHOU Jiali and Senior Manager Sabrina ZHANG was received by Economic Officer Consul Conrado B. Demdem, Jr.. PTIC-Shanghai Head Commercial Vice Consul Mario Tani, and the latter’s interpreter Ms. Vicky Wang.
Both sides discussed UE’s plans at visiting the Philippines to concretely explore the market, search for potential local partners, and map out prospective operations. Director ZHOU said UE regards the Philippines as its “most important market for renewable energy in Southeast Asia,” citing the country’s political stability, RE potential, and robust demand for energy storage.
Consul Demdem welcomed UE’s interest on behalf of the Consulate General, describing it as dovetailing with the Philippine Government’s thrust toward clean, sustainable, and affordable energy and raising RE’s share in the country’s energy mix.
Commercial Vice Consul Tani briefed UE on the incentives available for UE’s prospective investments, and assured the company of the PTIC’s readiness to lend all necessary facilitation and assistance. END
Consulate General wraps up 2021 with Appreciation Fête for Filipino Community, partners and stakeholders
22 December – In a gesture of gratitude for a productive 2021, the Philippine Consulate General hosted a year-end evening reception for the Filipino Community and its partners and supporters at the Parkyard Hotel in the New Pudong District.
The simple but warm affair brought together Filipino Community leaders, representatives of local government agencies and, partners and contacts from Shanghai’s business, tourism, educational, cultural and other sectors.
The main program got underway with a recap of the Consulate General’s milestones for 2021. The short video offered a snapshot of the Consulate General’s frontline services; assistance to Filipinos; voter registration activities; and cooperation with Filipino organizations.
Also showcased were efforts pursued with the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) and Philippine Department of Tourism (PDOT) to promote commercial and business links with Shanghai and the larger Yangtze River Delta Region, and heighten and sustain interest in travel to the Philippines, pending normalization of tourism links.
The spotlight was also trained onto work to help buttress larger Philippines-China ties through engagement of government and party officials in Shanghai and the provinces of Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Anhui and Hubei, as well as various institutions, thought leaders, think tanks and counterpart foreign missions.
Consul General Ignacio expressed profound appreciation for the support and the fruitful collaboration of all partners. “These successes are not ours entirely. Thank you for your unremitting support and the initiatives and projects that you have undertaken hand-in-hand and shoulder-to-shoulder with the PCG.”
Musical numbers capped an evening of fellowship and networking and adding festive cheer to the occasion music. Filipino Community leaders treated guests to a medley of traditional Filipino Christmas carols. Singer-chef Ms. Noemi De Leon Lacay obliged the crowd with a ballad, accompanied by the Consul General on guitar. The Consul General, Deputy Consul General Marlowe A. Miranda and Consul Conrado B. Demdem, Jr., rounded this up by leading guests in an impromptu sing-along. END
