SHANGHAI – Filipino fashion designer, Jaggy Glarino visited the Consulate last March 31, 2025. Mr. Glarino was in Shanghai to represent the Philippines at the inaugural edition of Sustasia Fashion Prize, an Asia-wide fashion competition promoting sustainable practices in the fashion industry.

Mr. Glarino, together with seven other finalists from China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia and Japan competed for the top prize at a glitzy event held at the sidelines of Shanghai Fashion Week.

A sought-after avant-garde designer back in the Philippines, Mr. Glarino’s clientele boasts of A-list celebrities which includes Catriona Gray, Michelle Marquez Dee, Boy Abunda and Vice Ganda.

When asked about his views on sustainable practices in the fashion industry, Mr. Glarino believes that through collective, multidimensional strategies in design, innovation and education, the fashion industry can be reshaped to prioritize accountability, inclusivity, and a shared commitment to a more enduring and responsible future.

An avid supporter of local prints and weaves, Mr. Glarino’s designs have headlined fashion circles in the Philippines such as last year’s TernoCon (Terno Convention) and the Philippine Fashion Week. His creations are also regular scene-stealers on the red carpet of major award shows in the Philippines. END
