Consulate General launches observance of 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW)
Shanghai, 25 November 2024 - The Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Shanghai is in solidarity with the Filipino nation in marking the start of the annual 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) that runs from November 25 to December 12. To kick off the campaign, Consul General Dinno M. Oblena led PCG personnel in pledging support for the advocacy at a flag-raising ceremony held on 25 November 2024.
This year’s theme is “VAW Bigyang Wakas, Ngayon na ang Oras!” (End VAW, the time is now!). The year 2024 also marks the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Philippines’ Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act of 2004 (RA 9262).

Philippine Pavillion opens at the 7th CIIE in Shanghai, highlights fresh and processed food products
Shanghai, 6 November 2024 – The Philippines opened its FoodPhilippines Pavillion at the 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) being held from 5 to 10 November 2024 the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai, People’s Republic of China.
Philippine Ambassador to China Jaime FlorCruz led the opening of the Philippine Pavilion via a ceremonial ribbon cutting. The Ambassador was joined by Philippine Consul General in Shanghai Dinno Oblena, Department of Agriculture Assistant Secretary Philip Young, Commercial Counselor Glenn Peñaranda of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center-Beijing, Agriculture Counselor Jerome Bunyi of the Office of the Agriculture Counselor-Beijing and Division Chief Malerna Buyao of the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions. Also gracing the occasion were Chairman of Liwayway (China) Co., Ltd. Larry Chan, Director General Wang Liping of the Asian Affairs Department of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and Deputy Director General Song Xuejun of the CIIE Bureau.
Building on the success of the Philippines’ previous participation, the pavilion continues to put a spotlight on agricultural products, including the country’s homegrown durian variety which entered the Chinese market in 2023. Located at the Food and Agricultural Products Hall of the NECC, it houses sixteen (16) exporters of fresh and processed food products. The participation is under the FoodPhilippines trade promotion branding and features fresh and frozen durian, fresh and processed banana, pineapple, coconut, coffee, biscuits, snacks and beverages.
Now on its 7th edition, the CIIE is China’s annual centerpiece trade platform that provides new channels and opportunities for enhancing business ties and trade cooperation. END
