Shanghai PCG marks International Women’s Day
SHANGHAI – The Philippine Country Team in Shanghai, consisting of the Consulate General, Trade and Investment Center, and Tourism Office joined Filipinos across the globe in the observance of International Women’s Day (IWD) and the 2024 National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) in the Philippines on 08 March.
The rites opened with the Philippine national anthem video featuring an all-women ensemble specially prepared by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) to celebrate the 2024 NWMC and other gender and development (GAD) occasions.
In his brief remarks, Consul General Dinno M. Oblena emphasized that “this whole month of March is for all women. Let us commit to this year’s theme to call for a “Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas: Kakayahan ng Kababaihan, Patutunayan!”
The PCG hosted an afternoon tea for its women personnel, highlighted by the ceremonial cutting of a purple Women’s Day cake presided over by the Consul General. Also present for the event were a few representatives of the Filipino community. The afternoon tea featured pancit palabok (Filipino noodles) and, to mark the occasion, purple-colored snacks such as puto (steamed rice cake). END
