Consul General Oblena highlights strategic business opportunities in the Philippines at 2024 Hangzhou Belt and Road Event

Philippine Consul General in Shanghai Dinno M. Oblena participated in the 2024 Hangzhou Belt and Road Countries Business Matching Seminar held on 29 May 2024 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province and highlighted significant advantages and business opportunities that the Philippines offers for companies in Hangzhou that are looking to expand their operations.
Organized by relevant institutions of the Hangzhou Municipal Government, the event brought together participating Consulates General in Shanghai and representatives from more than a hundred business enterprises based in Hangzhou and Zhejiang Province in an afternoon of presentations on opportunities for enhancing bilateral economic cooperation.
In his speech at the event, Consul General Oblena stated that the Philippines has a solid macroeconomic foundation and is among the fastest growing economies in Asia. With its growing population, he mentioned that the country offers a large market that can be tapped, favorable demographics with a young population, and a globally competitive work force. The Philippines, he added, has abundant resources such as fruits and seafood as well as green metals which are crucial in green energy. Apart from enhancing infrastructure and connectivity through the "Build, Better, More" program, the country has actively taken action to create a conducive business environment through the passage of legislation that encourages foreign direct investment.
The event was attended by ranking officials of the Hangzhou Municipal Government, including Chairman Ma Weiguang of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Hangzhou Committee and Deputy Mayor Xu Weihua. END
Shanghai PCG visits the 32nd China International Bicycle Fair
SHANGHAI – Philippine Consulate General representatives Commercial Consul Glenn G. Peñaranda and Consul John Francis S. Herrera visited the 32nd China International Bicycle Fair held in Shanghai on 05 – 08 May 2024. They met and had interesting discussions on the promotion of cycling worldwide with fair organizer China Bicycle Association (CBA) representatives Vice President Ms. Huo Xiaoyun, Director Mr. Wu Zongjiang and Deputy General Manager for Shanghai Mr. Xie Sheng.
The China International Bicycle Fair is held annually in Shanghai and showcases the latest products from top Chinese bike manufactures as well as international brands. The latest in bicycle technology and manufacturing innovation are also featured during the 4-day event, including e-bikes, high output batteries and e-bike motors. END
PCG celebrates the 2024 National Heritage Month
The Philippine Consulate General in Shanghai joins the nation in celebrating the 2024 National Heritage Month, by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 439.
With the theme, “Championing Heritage: Capacity Building to Transform Communities,” emphasizes the much needed support for our cultural workers and advocates within the local communities and indigenous peoples (IP) themselves by boosting their knowledge and skills on heritage management through proper training and capacity-building activities and tools such as basic conservation, historical research, and cultural mapping methodologies, heritage impact assessments, the effective management of museums, galleries, libraries, and archives, and the maintenance of local registries for submission to the Philippine Registry of Heritage (TALAPAMANA).
