SHANGHAI, 21 February 2025 – Huawei marked the operationalization of its new Lianqiu Lake R&D Center with an organized tour of their facilities for selected diplomats from Shanghai and Beijing. The sprawling 2,600-acre campus is presently Huawei’s largest and most heavily invested R&D center globally to date and is intended to be Huawei’s core hub for its global R&D networking.

The facility presently has 25,000 Huawei scientists, engineers, employees occupying its office spaces and research laboratories, with another 20,000 expected to transfer here once its operations kick into full gear.  The vast campus is composed of 8 “districts” interconnected by a tram system.

The consuls general and head of post of Fiji, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines; and Ambassadors of Cambodia and Morrocco joined the visit to the Lianqiu Lake R&D Center and were impressed by its expanse, organization and modern beauty. Huawei’s Lianqiu Lake R&D Center is a milestone achievement of the company and sets the stage for Huawei to further advance its development of cutting-edge technology such as 5G, cloud computing and artificial intelligence.
