SHANGHAI –  Outgoing Philippine Consul General in Shanghai Josel F. Ignacio hosted a reception on 11 January at the Chancery to bid farewell to counterparts in the city’s 77-mission strong consular corps, fellow Filipinos, executives, local partners, stakeholders, and colleagues.

farewell cg2CG Ignacio, who is due to assume as Philippine Ambassador to India, is wrapping up a stint of almost close to three years in China’s financial capital on 13 January. He took up the post on 12 April 2021.

At the cocktail event, CG Ignacio delivered a valedictory highlighting the Mission’s notable accomplishments under his watch.

farewell cg3“In these thousand days, we believe we have accomplished much across all fronts. Beyond my term, our Mission will rely greatly on your invaluable support, partnership, and friendship”, he said as he counterparts and stakeholders for their support for the PCG’s delivery on its key mandates.

Later in the evening, personnel of the PCG and attached agencies and Filipino community leaders presented moving tribute speeches, performances and gestures of appreciation.

PCG took the opportunity to hold the brief ceremonial unveiling of the bust of Apolinario Mabini (reported under cover of separate fax). The number and profile of guests provided an auspicious backdrop to highlight the hero’s legacy and his importance to the PH foreign service. END
