Consul General Josel F. Ignacio and the representatives of 51 other Consular Missions in Shanghai guested at the ceremonial lighting on 6 February of the Yuyuan Garden Lantern Festival, one of Shanghai’s major Spring Festival attractions and a national intangible cultural heritage.
Hosted by the Shanghai Government’s Foreign Affairs Office (FAO) and Huangpu District with the support of Chinese multinational Fosun International, the program included an indoor revue featuring Chinese dance, acrobatics and opera.
The rites were followed by a tour of beautiful scenery and traditional buildings of the 400-year-old Yuyuan, one of Shanghai’s must-see sites.
The Lantern Festival marks the final day of the Chinese New Year and Spring Festival holidays. END
