21 September 2022 -- Officials of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT)-Shanghai Pudong Sub-Council called on the Philippine Consulate General on 21 September to explore avenues for joint activities to drive economic interaction between Philippine and Pudong-based enterprises.

Consul General Josel F. Ignacio, Consul (Economic) Francis S. Herrera and PTIC-Shanghai Head Mario C. Tani received Sub-Council Vice President Anthony Qui, who was accompanied by International Relations and Investment Promotion Dept. Project Managers Noora Xue and Wang Min. Also present was Ms. Lu Qi Xi of the Shanghai Pudong Chamber of International Commerce.

The CCPIT, founded in 1952, is the largest and most important organization for the promotion of trade in China, counting as members significant entrepreneurs and organizations which the Council assists for inward and outward trade and investment. Its Shanghai Pudong Sub-Council, meanwhile, was established in 1993 when Pudong was first assigned its role in piloting free trade and industrial zone development.

Both sides recognized their complementary objectives to open doors to gainful cooperation for their respective businesses, with Consul General Ignacio citing the robust foundation arising from the excellent overall relations between the Philippines and China.

PCG and PTIC invited the Sub-Council to visit the Philippine Pavilion at the 5th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in November, and briefed the visitors on areas of opportunity in the Philippines, including in electric vehicles, aerospace and textile manufacturing. Both sides agreed to work towards a joint investment forum for Pudong-based enterprises at the soonest practicable opportunity. END
