The Philippine Consulate General in Shanghai was invited to be part of the panel of judges to crown this year’s Miss Earth China 2016. Representing Consul General Wilfredo R. Cuyugan were the Head of Cultural Affairs Section of the Consulate, Vice Consul André Peter C. Estanislao and Cultural Officer Chris Ian San Juan. Vice Consul Estanislao, in his opening speech congratulated all the contestants for already winning their own local competitions and for their advocacy in protecting the environment. He also highlighted the Philippines’ commitment in pushing for policies and programs that protect the environment. He said that the Philippines is one with China and the community of nations in affirming its commitment to policies and regulations that ensure long term preservation and protection of the environment.
The Miss Earth Beauty Pageant, in its website, “is an International Environmental Event channeling the beauty pageant entertainment industry as an effective tool to promote environmental awareness.” The Pageant was established and founded in 2001 by Carousel Productions in the Philippines. Ms Angelina Gabrena Ong of the Philippines, reigning Miss Earth 2015, will pass on her crown to one of the over 90 Grand finalists from all over the world at the Final Coronation Night of Miss Earth 2016 in the Philippines at the Mall of Asia Arena on 29 October 2016.
